A cochlear includes a cochlear lead, a housing defining an exterior and including a magnet pocket, a top wall above the magnet pocket, a bottom wall below the magnet pocket, a side wall lateral of and extending around the magnet pocket, and a magnet channel that extends through the side wall from an aperture in the housing exterior to the magnet pocket, an antenna, and a stimulation processor operably connected to the antenna and to the cochlear lead. A magnet that includes a housing, a ferromagnetic object within the housing, and a lubricious low application temperature coating on the housing exterior.
