The present invention causes sufficient centrifugal force to act on an air-discharging flow path communicating between the inside and the outside of a hollow rotary shaft, to an end of which a rotary atomizing head is attached, to smoothly discharge the air in this space. A rotary atomizing head (20) is provided with, at the back-surface side thereof, a tubular connecting mechanism (22) that is securely attached to a hollow rotary shaft (12) of an air motor (11), a nozzle insertion port (23) into which an end of a feed tube (13) inserted through the hollow rotary shaft (12) is inserted, and a paint chamber (24) that receives the supply of paint from the feed tube (13). A pressure adjusting chamber (30) having an air-discharging flow path (33), which is open to the outer circumferential surface, is provided between the nozzle insertion port (23) and the connecting mechanism (22). A flow-out port (34) of the air-discharging flow path (33) is formed at a position where the straight-line distance thereof from the center of rotation (C) is larger than the radius of a portion of the hollow rotary shaft (12), the portion being supported by a radial bearing (14). |
