A medical instrument according to the present disclosure is equipped with: a contact section which contacts with a biological tissue; a driving section which can generate a driving force for allowing the contact section to contact with the biological tissue; and a limiter mechanism which can limit the transmission of the driving force to the contact section in accordance with a contact force to be applied to the biological tissue by means of the contact section. This configuration enables the limitation of a force to be applied to a biological tissue during a surgical operation in spite of the fact that the medical instrument has a simple configuration, and also enables the reduction of the risk of failure of the medical instrument.
