The purpose of the present invention is to provide a novel arterial stiffness ameliorating agent and composition for ameliorating arterial stiffness which are capable of preventing vascular dysfunction before onset or such as at an early state of cardiovascular diseases, thereby maintaining the flexibility of blood vessels so that cardiovascular diseases associated with vascular dysfunction, particularly cardiovascular diseases of which the incidence increases with age, can be prevented with few side effects. The present invention provides an arterial stiffness ameliorating agent and composition for ameliorating arterial stiffness which contain cocoa polyphenols as an active ingredient. The present invention also provides a method for ameliorating arterial stiffness, comprising causing a subject to ingest cocoa polyphenols in an intake amount that is effective for ameliorating arterial stiffness. |
