A solid solution pharmaceutical composition comprising: a) one or more opioids comprising about 5% to 40% by weight of the pharmaceutical composition; b) one or more room temperature solid lipids comprising about 30% to about 90% by weight of the pharmaceutical composition; c) one or more room temperature liquid lipids comprising about 1% to about 30% by weight of the pharmaceutical composition, wherein the solid solution pharmaceutical composition has a melting point of 30° C. or higher.
