The invention relates to a method for producing a shoe (1), particularly a sports shoe. In order to improve comfort when wearing the shoe, the claimed method has the following steps: a) providing a planar carrier substrate (2); b) applying a plurality of discrete material sections (3) consisting of a foamed plastic material to at least one side (4, 5) of the carrier substrate (2); and c) producing at least one section of an upper (7) of the shoe (1) using the carrier substrate (2) with the material sections (3) produced according to step b).
