PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for estimation of a pulp whiteness which enable continuous estimation management of the pulp whiteness by estimating a final whiteness by using a virtual sensor (soft sensor) function.SOLUTION: A whiteness of a pulp raw material after passing through a high-capacity storage tank is estimated with a soft sensor (virtual sensor) by using a multiple regression equation. A method of estimation calculation of a pulp raw material residence time in the storage tank, an explanatory variable used in the multiple regression equation, and selected examples of other explanatory variables are described. To retain the estimation accuracy, manual analysis measurements of the pulp whiteness measured regularly several times a day are utilized, and the multiple regression equation is corrected successively by using an index smoothing method and the Kalman filter. |
