[Class 94 (ii)] A web of paper is formed into a tube at 20, and sections removed therefrom by a rotary cutter 21, are fed by belt and cylinder system 22 to a quicker moving drum 1 which separates the elementary bag tubes. Fingers 4, operated by a cam 8 through a roller and crank 6, 7, engage over each tube, while a rotating finger 12, whose centre follows an elliptical path, enters the open forward end of the tube, opened by a suction device 10, 11 and lays it back over the fingers 4 to form the diamond bottom. Roller 23 presses the opened bottom and the bag element, which is then handed on to drum 1<1>, is gripped by grippers 27, the forward corner of the diamond bottom being folded over. Gum is then applied by a device 20 ... 25 and further rotary fingers 4, arranged in pairs on each side of the bag, at the unfolded rear corner of the diamond bottom, effect the folding over thereof by their relative motion. The formed bottom is pressed at 28, 29 and the completed bags delivered at 30. The various parts are adjustable for making bags of different widths and lengths. |
