PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a duplex surface grinder and a grinding method whereby flatness of both principal surfaces of a work-piece can be fully increased without forming a recess in the outer peripheral surface of the work-piece.SOLUTION: A duplex surface grinder 10 comprises grindstones 14a, 14b, grindstone notching devices 24a, 24b, a conveyance unit 28, a rotary driving unit 30, and a holding part 48. The work-piece W held by the holding part 48 is conveyed to a grinding position G by the conveyance unit 28. The holding part 48 is rotated around a rotation axis extending in vertical direction by the rotary driving unit 30. The holding part 48 holds the outer peripheral surface of the work-piece W in such a manner that the work-piece W can move in vertical direction and rotation of the holding part 48 is transmitted to the work-piece W. The grindstone 14a is lowered by the grindstone notching device 24a in such a manner that the work-piece W held by the holding part 48 is sandwiched between the grindstones 14a, 14b. Thus, both principal surfaces (the top surface and the undersurface) of the work-piece W can be ground by the grindstones 14a, 14b. |
