The present invention addresses the problem of appropriately performing communication even when the number of component carriers that can be set for a user terminal expands beyond that of an existing system. A user terminal according to one embodiment of the present invention is characterized by having: a reception unit that detects, on a downlink control channel, instruction information for the reception of a downlink shared channel; a transmission unit that transmits uplink control information regarding the reception of the downlink shared channel corresponding to the instruction information; and a control unit that determines, from among a plurality of physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) formats including a high-capacity PUCCH format having a greater capacity than a PUCCH format 3, the PUCCH format in which to transmit the uplink control information. The user terminal is further characterized in that on the basis of the instruction information, the control unit determines a PUCCH resource for transmitting in a high-capacity PUCCH format. |
