PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus in which a main unit can surely be gripped regardless of directions (horizontal and vertical directions) of the imaging apparatus and that has excellent operability and includes a photographing mode switching mechanism capable of obtaining high grade feeling.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus comprises: a main unit 10; a lens barrel 30 that is provided in the main unit and holds a lens; and a photographing mode switching mechanism for switching photographing modes. The photographing mode switching mechanism includes: a mode switching operation ring 40 that is disposed around the lens barrel and that is provided in the main unit so as to be able to perform reciprocation operation in a predetermined angle range around an optical axis L of a lens with a predetermined rest position as a center; return springs 71, 72 stretched between the main unit and the mode switching operation ring so as to make the mode switching operation ring automatically return to the rest position; and an interlocking switch 60 for emitting trigger signals continually switching photographing modes in conjunction with rotating operation in one direction or the other direction of the mode switching operation ring. Accordingly, the main unit can surely be gripped, and the imaging apparatus can obtain excellent operability and high grade feeling. |
