PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dehydration catalyst capable of allowing aliphatic unsaturated alcohol to be converted selectively into conjugated diene.SOLUTION: The dehydration catalyst related to one embodiment of this invention includes silica alumina. A silica-alumina ratio of the silica alumina is 18 or lower. A ratio of silicon atoms Q, each of which is not bonded directly to a hydroxy group, to all of silicon atoms contained in the silica alumina is 80 mol% or higher. The dehydration catalyst allows α,&bgr;-aliphatic unsaturated alcohol of carbon number of 4 or more to be dehydrated to produce conjugated diene. |
