The present invention is a weapon simulator that is at least partially controlled by a host computer and simulates near actual recoil forces of a weapon via a gun active recoil unit.

1. A weapon simulator comprising:
a gun active recoil unit configured to provide a trigger signal, and comprising a slide tray; at least one electric motor operatively connected to the slide tray to cause the slide tray to move in response to a signal; and a host computer operatively connected to provide said signal based on said trigger signal, and to dynamically alter a frequency of said signal when the weapon simulator is in use so as to simulate recoil of a weapon.
