A fuel management system for a pyrolytic oven configured to combust feedstock to generate fuel, comprising: an elongated heating chamber comprising a first zone and a second zone, wherein the first zone comprises a portion along the elongated dimension of the heating chamber that is distinct from the second zone; a first set of sensors configured to monitor a temperature and a composition of the feedstock in the first zone; a second set of sensors configured to monitor a temperature and a composition of the feedstock in the second zone; a conveyor configured to carry the feedstock through the elongated heating chamber; a plurality of independently controllable heat sources comprising a first heat source configured to supply heat to the first zone and a second heat source configured to supply heat to the second zone; and a fuel management engine communicatively coupled with the first and second sets of sensors, the conveyor, and the plurality of independently controllable heat sources, and programmed to: retrieve temperature data and feedstock composition data from the first and second set of sensors,generate a first feedstock profile based on temperature data and feedstock composition data retrieved from the first set of sensors,generate a second feedstock profile based on temperature data and feedstock composition data retrieved from the second set of sensors,re-configure the first heat source based in part on the first feedstock profile,re-configure the second heat source based in part on the second feedstock profile,re-configure the conveyor based in part on the first and second feedstock profiles.
