-12 A protective net, preferably for lining tunnel walls in mining or for secur ing layers of the ground, is provided with longitudinal elements (11, 12, 13, 14) and meshes (17, 17') formed from the latter. The net (10) is rein forced or rigidified with bar elements (20, 21) arranged spaced apart from one another, by means of which it can preferably be sub-divided into a number of individual surface sections (18, 19). With these bar el ements as reinforcement or rigidification the net is easily provided with two-dimensional stability. In this way in particular improved ease of in stallation of the net is achieved.
