437,729. Centrifugal pumps. HOWDEN & CO., Ltd., J., and BAENNINGER, H., 195, Scotland Street, Glasgow. April 5, 1934, No. 10306. [Class 110 (i)] The suction of a centrifugal pump comprises a U-shaped box with interconnected pivoted vanes for imparting pre-whirl to the fluid. The vanes 8-11 are moved in one direction and the vane 12 is the opposite direction by a hand lever 28 and linkages 24-18 and 25-27. The hand lever 28 is held in any desired position by a bolt 30. In a modification, the pivots of the vanes are off-set from the planes of the vanes. In a further modification which permits the vanes 8-11 to reverse the direction of the pre-whirl, the lever arms 24, 25 are replaced by gearing.
|
