Provided is a method for manufacturing a medical linear member which does not wear during manufacturing and which has a flat cross section. This method for manufacturing a medical linear member includes: a step of spirally winding a base body 3, in which multiple wires 2 comprising a shape-memory alloy are arranged, about a winding core 4 to form a first spiral body 1 which has a truly circular cross section; a step of subjecting the first spiral body 1 to a first shape-memory process; a step of cutting the first spiral body 1 into a first predetermined length; a step of removing the winding core 4 from the first spiral body 1; a step of diametrically compressing the first spiral body 1 to form a second spiral body 6 that has a flat cross section; and a step of subjecting the second spiral body to a second shape-memory process. |
