Provided is a communication device wherein the service life of a battery is lengthened. A communication device (10) is provided with a main body unit (10A), operation unit (12), processing unit (23), first determining unit (21), and second determining unit (22). The main body unit (10A) includes a communication unit (14), and operates by being supplied with power from a battery (11). When operation mode is second operation mode wherein power consumption is smaller than that in first operation mode, and in the cases where the first determining unit (21) determines that a change instruction to the first operation mode is received, and the second determining unit (22) determines that change conditions for changing the operation mode to the first operation mode from the second operation mode are met, the processing unit (23) changes the operation mode to the first operation mode from the second operation mode.
