A backlight module (10) comprises a light guide plate (100) and a quantum dot module (200). The light guide plate (100) comprises a light inlet surface (110) and a light outlet surface (120). The quantum dot module is embedded in the light guide plate, and is arranged between the light inlet surface and the light outlet surface of the light guide plate. Quantum dots are filled in the quantum dot module. A preparation method for the backlight module is also provided.
