Provided are a color filter substrate and preparation method thereof. The method comprises the following steps: S101 providing a glass substrate (10) and preparing a photosensitive black material layer (20) on the glass substrate (10); S102 using an exposure mask (30) to perform an exposure process on the photosensitive black material layer (20); S103 performing a first developing process on the photosensitive black material layer (20) to obtain a preliminary black matrix (40a) on the glass substrate (10); and S104 performing a second developing process on the preliminary black matrix (40a) to obtain a final black matrix (40) on the glass substrate (10).
