Disclosed are a method and apparatus for sending load information. The method comprises: an access point (AP) measuring, within a set time range, a frequency space stream utilization rate of each unit bandwidth channel in an available bandwidth of the AP, wherein the frequency space stream utilization rate is a ratio of a space stream, occupied by a frequency resource block allocated on the unit bandwidth channel for transmitting data, to the maximum space stream supported by an antenna of the AP; adding indication information indicating the frequency space stream utilization rate into a load information element; and sending the load information element to a station (STA). By using the method and apparatus provided in the present invention, the STA can determine available resources after determining a frequency space stream utilization rate of each unit bandwidth channel, and then determine an AP needing to be accessed, so as to balance a load between various APs, and make resource allocation more reasonable. |
