An actuator arrangement for a control valve or a common rail fuel injector, the arrangement comprising a coil provided within a core member and an armature fixed to a valve stem provided at a radial centre of the armature, wherein a portion of armature comprises an integral extension, such that a surface of the armature proximate to the core member is stepped, such that a first, larger airgap exists between the armature and the core member at a radially outward portion of the armature, and a second, smaller airgap exists at a radially inner portion of the armature, thereby improving damping of armature and valve stem movement on opening of the actuator arrangement. |
