Disclosed are a code stream sending method and device which are used for solving the technical problem that many code streams are lost when a terminal receives code streams sent by an opposite end. The method comprises: a media gateway receiving attribute information about code streams sent by a media receiving end, and determining first code stream conversion information according to the attribute information about the code streams; the media gateway modifying, according to information about the mode in which conversion is performed by layers, attribute information about code streams sent by a media sending end into the attribute information sent by the media receiving end, and sending the modified attribute information to the media sending end; the media gateway receiving code streams in a first format, which are sent by the media sending end, and converting the code streams in the first format into code streams in a second format; and the media gateway sending the code streams in the second format to the media receiving end. |
