The invention relates to the belt strap (1) of a safety belt or seat belt, in which belt strap an emergency tearing point II to V is optionally incorporated at locations (10) and (11). The emergency tearing point is optionally incorporated along the chest belt strap portion (10) between an upper and a lower restraint point and/or along the hip belt strap portion (11). The emergency tearing points are opened by pulling on a bow, loop, tab, eye, or ring (see figure II). A comparative overview of conceivable embodiments of the emergency tearing points in the open and closed state is provided on the last page of the application.
