1. A system that provides conscious sensory feedback to a patient, the system comprising:
at least one sensor configured in a spatial pattern and adapted to be arranged on a region where conscious sensory feedback is desired; a processor arranged to receive at least one signal from the at least one sensor; a tactile display connected to the processor, the tactile display arranged to be placed in an area of the patient neighboring the region where conscious sensory feedback is desired, the tactile display comprising:
at least one signal transducer arranged for cooperating with receptive fields on the area of the patient; anda support adapted to position the at least one transducer proximate to the receptive fields to map spatial recognition and association of the region where conscious sensory feedback is desired by mapping signals from the at least one sensor by the at least one signal transducer when a stimulus is applied to the region.
