A technique of processing a sheet-type medium (101), particularly an thickness detection apparatus for a sheet-type valuable document used in a financial self-service device (300), comprising a mounting rack, a thickness reference shaft (110), a thickness detection assembly (120) that comprises a thickness detection roll (121) in elastic contact with the thickness reference shaft (110), the thickness detection roll (121) being rotationally mounted on a thickness detection reflective plate (122), the thickness detection reflective plate (122) being fixed with a thickness detection rotating shaft (123), the thickness detection rotating shaft (123) forming the rotating center of the thickness detection roll (121), the thickness detection rotating shaft (123) being fixedly provided with a thickness detection amplifying plate (124); and a thickness measurement assembly (130) comprising a thickness sensor (133) for measuring the amount of movement of the thickness detection amplifying plate (124), the thickness detection reflective plate (122) and the thickness detection amplifying plate (124) forming an angle α which enables the thickness detection amplifying plate (124) to be parallel to the thickness sensor (133); the thickness value of the sheet type medium (101) being calculated according to the amount of movement of the thickness detection amplifying plate (124) measured by the sensor (133). |
