1. A method for manufacturing a structural component, the method comprising:
forming a base member such that the base member comprises at least two sidewalls and a space therebetween; hot stretch forming the base member so that the base member has a predetermined curvilinear configuration; linear friction welding at least one reinforcing member to the at least two sidewalls so that the reinforcing member is positioned at least partially within the space between the at least two sidewalls; and wherein the structural component has substantially no residual stress following the hot stretch forming and linear friction welding. |
