440,028. Motor-generators; induction machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London, ADKINS, B., 13, Fisher Avenue, and LIDDIARD, H. W. C., Bulawayo, Dunchurch Road, both in Rugby. June 12, 1934, No. 17400. [Class 35] The slip regulator in the secondary circuit of an induction motor is excited by a frequency changer, the brush-gear of which is moved by a pilot or torque motor energized in dependence on the induction motor load. In the form shown, the slip regulator 10 cascaded with the main machine 1 coupled to a fly-wheel 2 and generator 3, has in addition to the series winding 11, windings 13, 14 connected to the exciter 15 as shown. The brush-gear of the exciter is moved by a torque motor 8 energized in proportion to the load of the main motor 1. If the motor drives a generator supplying a colliery winding motor, it may be desirable for the motor 1 to self excite as a generator to permit winding to continue after an interruption of the supply, the motor 1 then serving as the supply for the motor 23 driving on exciter 22. for the generator and winding motor. To obtain this result, the winding 13 is opencircuited and some of the resistance in series with winding 14 is short-circuited. Specification 402,498 is referred to.
|
