A liquid crystal display device according to one embodiment of the present invention is provided with: a light-transmitting base; an photo-alignment control part which is arranged on a first surface of the base; a reflective part which is provided on the first surface at least in a position where the reflective part does not overlap the photo-alignment control part when viewed from the normal direction of the base; and a low refractive index part which is provided in a position where the low refractive index part partially overlaps the reflective part when viewed from the normal direction of the base, and which has a refractive index lower than the refractive index of the photo-alignment control part. The photo-alignment control part has: a light incident end face which is positioned on the base side; a light exit end face which is positioned on the side opposite to the base side, and which is larger than the light incident end face; and an inclined surface which is positioned between the light incident end face and the light exit end face.
