PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylindrical battery in which safety in inner pressure increase and insulation between positive and negative electrodes are ensured.SOLUTION: In a cylindrical battery 1a, a terminal plate 10 in a turned-down dish shape with which an edge part 13 is formed is caulked and sealed via a sealing gasket 7 in an upper opening of a bottomed cylindrical battery can 2 which is also functioned as one electrode. A gas release hole 12 is formed on a side surface part 14 of the terminal plate, and a washer 20a with which a flange part 22 is formed is fitted to an upper end of an annular body part 21. The washer includes a hollow part 23a which is formed from a diameter enlarged portion 25 at an upper end side and a diameter reduced portion 26 at a lower end side, and formed in a hole shape with two steps and vertically penetrates the washer. The diameter reduced portion of the washer is mounted to the side surface part of the terminal plate, and the flange part is attached to an outer package label 9 in the opening end portion of the battery can. An inner diameter &phgr;1 of the diameter enlarged portion is larger than an outer diameter &phgr;3 in an upper end of the gas release hole on the side surface part of the terminal plate. |
