PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a negative electrode for a lithium ion secondary battery in which particle breaking and particle peeling from a collector due to expansion or contraction of a volume of a negative electrode active material during charging or discharging are less likely to occur, and cycle characteristics are significantly improved.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a negative electrode 1 for a lithium ion secondary battery includes the steps of: forming a metal film 3 by plating metal on a collector 2; coating a slurry including a negative electrode active material particle 4 and a combustible particle 5 on the metal film 3; heating the collector 2 coated with the slurry; and cooling the heated collector 2. The burning temperature of the combustible particle 5 is lower than the burning temperature of the negative electrode active material particle 4. The heating step burns the combustible particle 5 by heating the collector at a temperature higher than or equal to the burning temperature of the combustible particle 5 and a melting point of the metal. The cooling step binds the negative electrode active material particle 4 on the collector 2 by solidifying the melt metal. |
