Provided is a method and device for operating a Heating, Ventilation and Air- Conditioning (HVAC) system (100, 200) of an automotive vehicle. The HVAC system comprises an electronic controlling means (110, 210), which are configured for being selectively switched on or off by a user and are capable of setting and applying one of a plurality of predetermined operating modes (101, 102; 201, 202) of the HVAC system based on at least one parameter representing a measure of the air quality outside of the vehicle, said parameter being provided by air quality sensing means (90). The awareness of the system is raised by providing contextual indications on a display unit. |
