A pitch control mechanism (100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600) includes: a rotor structure configured for rotation about a longitudinal axis; a row of blades (28) carried by the rotor structure, each blade having an airfoil and a trunnion (120) mounted for pivoting movement relative to the rotor structure, about a trunnion axis which is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis; a unison ring (108, 208, 308, 408, 508, 608) interconnecting the blades (28); an actuator (106, 206, 306, 406, 506, 606) connected to the unison ring (108, 208, 308, 408, 508, 608) and the rotor structure, operable to move the unison ring (108, 208, 308, 408, 508, 608) relative to the rotor structure; at least one moveable counterweight (138, 238, 338, 438, 538, 638) carried by the rotor structure, remote from the blades (28); and an interconnection between the blades (28) and the counterweight, such that movement of the counterweight (138, 238, 338, 438, 538, 638) causes a change in the pitch angle of the blades (28). |
