[Class 120 (iii)] A sliver bobbin for use in the ring-spinning of woollen yarn is composed of two or more independent transverse sections wound upon a telescopic spindle or axle so that, by extending the spindle, the sections can be moved apart for delivery of the slivers to the ring spindles, the angle of delivery of the end slivers for a given length of spindle bank being thus reduced. As shown, the spindle is in two sections a, b which can be contracted as shown in Fig. 1 for the winding of the slivers thereon and expanded, as shown in Fig. 2, for delivery; projections b<1>, a<2> on the sections prevent complete withdrawal thereof.
