[Class 72] In apparatus for removing magnetic particles from liquids, such as oil, a magnet W is provided with tapered polepieces P of large area which dip into the liquid and are provided with holes A in the direction of the lines of force produced by the poles. The holes are chamfered to assist the flow of the fluid. The magnet may be arranged, as shown, in the sump at the inlet to the oil pump of an internal-combustion engine and is provided with a handle H connected to the yoke Y. |
