A vehicle control device is provided. The control device can perform brake coordinate control for preventing receding of a vehicle stopping on an upslope properly according to the load of a clutch, thus achieving balance, clutch protection and guarantee on starting performance. In the control device, when the target driving torque TRQVCMD of the vehicle (V) is more than o and the vehicle speed (VP) is about 0, the vehicle (V) is determined to be in a stall state (steps 3, 4, 9 in a figure 4). When the vehicle (V) is determined to be in the stall state, load parameters of load of a first or a second clutch (7, 8) which are connected, namely clutch difference torque [delta]TRQCL, a clutch temperature TCL and the vehicle speed VP, are detected, and the brake coordinate control (steps 10, 11, 16 in the figure 4, and a figure 5) of braking by a second brake device (70) and disconnecting the first or the second clutch (7, 8) is performed according to the detection results. |
