- at least one metal-oxide varistor (MOV) (6),
- a gas arrestor (7) connected in series with said at least one MOV (6),
said overvoltage protection circuit (1) further including a transient discriminative module (4) connected in parallel with the energy absorbing module (2), said transient discriminative module (4) including an avalanche diode (9), wherein
- the said at least one energy-absorbing module (2) includes a resistance (8) in parallel with said gas arrestor (7) to form a potential divider circuit with the MOV (6) which shares the voltage about equally across the MOV (6) and the gas arrestor (7), and
- the said transient discriminative module (4) including a series connection of the avalanche diode (9) and a capacitor (10). |
