The invention relates to a method and to a device for encrypting raw data, wherein an encryption machine (200) comprising a transformation unit (213) is used, which transformation unit determines an encryption type in the form of a transformation rule (gi) in dependence on the internal state of the transformation unit, wherein the individual bytes (bi) of the raw data are encrypted by means of different unambiguous transformation rules (gi), wherein the transformation unit (213) is put into an initial state depending on a password (W0) in advance, and a deterministic random number generator (212) associated with the encryption machine (200) likewise is put into an initial state in dependence on the password (W0). According to the invention, the internal state of the transformation unit (213) and the internal state of the random number generator (212) are changed and updated after a number of encryptions of bytes, in particular after the encryption of each byte, in dependence on the particular raw-date byte to be encrypted and/or the particular end result of the encryption, and said new internal state is used as the basis of the next encryption. |
