A method for detecting a concentration of an analyte in a mixture sample, the method comprising: exposing a mixture sample to electromagnetic radiation, the mixture sample comprising one or more analytes, wherein exposing the mixture sample to electromagnetic radiation comprises exposing the mixture sample to near infrared, mid infrared light, or ultraviolet light, wherein the electromagnetic radiation is broad band or successive narrow bands; detecting responsiveness of one or more of the analytes to the electromagnetic radiation; calculating average responsiveness of the one or more of the analytes; and calculating a concentration of the one or more of the analytes in the mixture sample using the average responsiveness, wherein calculating a concentration further comprises counting each responsive analyte and calculating a size and shape of each of each responsive analyte.
