447,865. Scaffold clamps. FRANCOIS CEMENTATION CO., Ltd., Bentley Works, Doncaster. Sept. 10, 1935, No. 25199. Convention date, Jan. 12. [Class 20 (ii)] A swivelling coupling or clamp for connecting scaffold members and the like comprises a central body-piece A with one or more covers C<1>, C<2> each articulated thereto by means of a rigid pin L capable of rotation in a recessed lug or lugs D which has a slot P between its extremity and the body A, such that the pin L can be introduced longitudinally under the lug D. To prevent detachment of the covers, stop-pieces Q are provided on the body A or on the cover arms M after the introduction of the pins. The inner surfaces S of the covers are so shaped, that after distortion due to the tightening of the nuts G on the lugs K, continuous contact between the surfaces of the covers and scaffold members is obtained, and the clamping-bolts F which are T-headed are retained against loss by transversely fitted split-pins R or the like. The coupling may be modified in order to connect parallel and coaxial members.
