[Class 122 (v)] [See also Groups V and XI] A packing-gland in a machine for vulcanizing strip rubber goods consists of a flat conical rubber disc 41, pierced in the centre to take the strip, and compressed between two recessed metal plates, either by means of bolts, or by having one of the plates 44 mounted against an eccentric surface of the casing 4, so that compression takes place on turning. The plate 44 may be made hollow to take a cooling-liquid.
