Various embodiments disclosed herein are directed to a virtual player interface such as button deck for a gaming device. The interface includes a touch screen display which displays one or more button icons. The size, shape and location of the button icons may be reconfigured based upon player interaction or selection. Button functions or selections may be combined into a single button. The button reconfiguration may be saved to a player account to be applied when the player uses the gaming device or other applicable device. Haptic or audible feedback may be applied to the button icon based upon the location of the player's touch relative to a target position on the icon.

1. A device with an improved button panel comprising:
a touch interface display displaying at least one virtual button; a processor in communication with said display, said at least one button having an outer boundary, an inner button center target safe area bounded by an outer unsafe area between said safe area and said boundary, said touching of said button safe or unsafe area prompting a function for said processor; and said at least one of touch screen interface and processor are configured to provide haptic feedback of a first value upon a touch at said unsafe area and a second, greater value upon a touch outside of said boundary to provide sensory feedback responsive to the position of the user's touch relative to said target safe area.
