A mechanical system for providing stability and preventing overload of rail wheel suspension on road-rail vehicles.

Abstract The disclosed stabiliser leg is a mechanical structure consisting of fixed and movable parts. The fixed part 1 is rigidly attached to the chassis of a road-rail vehicle whilst the movable part 2 is deployed until the stabiliser foot 3 contacts the rail wheel 6. To prevent overload of the rail wheel suspension and/or loss on vehicle stability whilst vehicle mounted equipment is used or heavy loads are transported, the movable part 2 of the stabiliser leg is locked in position whilst in use thus, creating a rigid structure that will support the road-rail vehicle.
