This hydrogen gas production device is provided with a porous material (100) and a mixed gas source (300). The porous material (100) is hydrogen gas- and carbon dioxide gas-permeable, and has properties causing hydrogen gas to more readily permeate than carbon dioxide gas. The mixed gas source (300) causes a mixed gas including the carbon dioxide gas and the hydrogen gas to flow into the porous material (100) under conditions in which a pressure gradient represented by (P1-P2)/L is below 50 MPa/m, where the length of the porous material (100) in the direction in which the mixed gas permeates is expressed as L, the inflow pressure of the mixed gas into the porous material (100) is expressed as P1, and the outflow pressure from the porous material (100) is expressed as P2. |
