[Class 40 (iv)] A deaf-aid receiving instrument 21 is supported near the junction of the cervical and thoracic vertebrae by a strap 22 passing over the shoulders and extending under the arms of the user. An additional strap 25 is secured to the lower part of the instrument and to the dorsal portion of the strap 22. In a modification, Fig. 3, the suspension comprises front straps 71 and a back strap 73 extending to a waist band 74 and may be utilized to suspend a garment. A pocket may be formed at the junction of the straps 71, 73 for the reception of the instrument 21. The instrument comprises bar magnets 86 on which are mounted pole-pieces 82 with inwardly extending arms 83 on which are mounted coils 89. Secured to the pole-pieces are spacing blocks 93, 94 to which is rigidly attached a diaphragm 91, Fig. 5, carrying a soldered reinforcing-member 96 which is itself secured to the wall 100 of the casing shaped to fit the bone contour at the top of the spine. The distance piece 94 is provided with bushes 103 connected to the ends of the coils 89 and engaged by pins attached to leads 32. A cover 111 secured to the wall 100 is provided with a rubber insert 113 through which pass the connecting pins. A microphone, amplifier and control arrangement are carried by the user of the deaf-aid instrument. |
