摘要 An optical lens comprising synthetic polymeric materials is disclosed. The optical lens further comprises a plurality of optical zones formed within a designated area 5 of a polymeric material (PLM) having a UV absorber. The plurality of optical zones are created using a lens formation method that increases the hydrophilicity of only said designated area of said PLM. The method comprises generating a pulsed laser radiation output from a laser 10 source having a wavelength selected to interact with the PLM including the UV absorber, within the designated area of the PLM. The method further comprises accepting the pulsed laser radiation into a numerical aperture within a microscope objective to produce a focused laser radiation output and 15 transmitting the focused laser radiation output to the designated area within the PLM to increase the hydrophilicity of said designated area of said PLM. The method further comprises exposing said optical zones to water and allowing the designated area of the PLM to absorb 20 water to form a lens within the designated area of the PLM. -- Page---
