445,765. Reproducing music. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Dec. 30, 1935, No. 35959. Convention date, Jan. 17. [Class 40 (iv)] In a system in which different loud - speakers or groups of loudspeakers are used for different parts of the frequency spectrum, the low frequencies (e.g. 20 to 300) are reproduced by small loud-speakers having their fundamental resonance below and their first diaphragm resonance above the range that they reproduce, and the higher frequencies are reproduced by a smaller number of larger loud-speakers having their important resonances below the range that they reproduce. The Figure shows a group of small loudspeakers and a large loud-speaker mounted on a baffle, but other arrangements are possible and it may be desirable for the high frequencies to be looked after by several loud-speakers to avoid directional effects. |
