This titanium composite material 1 is provided with an inner layer 5 comprising an industrial pure titanium or titanium alloy, a surface layer 3 which is formed on at least one side of the inner layer 5 and which has a chemical composition different from that of the inner layer 5, and an intermediate layer which is formed between the inner layer 5 and surface layers 3 and which has a chemical composition different from that of the inner layer 5, wherein surface layers 3 have a thickness of no less than 2 µm and make up no more than 40% of the total thickness per side, and the intermediate layer has a thickness of no less than 0.5 µm. This titanium composite material has prescribed characteristics despite being inexpensive.
