A zigzag width range setting apparatus 9 sets a minimum value and a maximum value of a zigzag width of a needle 62. If the maximum value is changed by the zigzag width range setting apparatus 9 during the sewing machine stitch action, zigzag stitch in accordance with the changed maximum zigzag width is performed.
