The power converter comprises an energy storage output circuit (10) for supplying power for a load (RL) after storing energy, a main switch (Ki) for providing input power for the energy C storage output circuit when being switched on, a free-wheeling switch (K2) for providing a continuous current loop for the energy storage output circuit when the main switch is switched off, a drive circuit (20) for driving the main switch and the free-wheeling switch to be switched on in a switchover manner according to a preset clock frequency, a detection circuit (30) and a feedback cir _03 ocuit (40), the detection circuit being used for detecting the voltage on a connection node (LX) of the main switch and the free-wheel j~ing switch so as to use the energy storage output circuit to provide working voltage for the load while enabling the current of the continuous current loop not to flow reversely; and accordingly, the circuit works in a frequency modulation mode during light load, O thereby prolonging a switch-on/switch-off period of the main switch and the free-wheeling switch.
